Terms of Service & End User License Agreement
Effective date: July 30, 2026 · Last updated: July 30, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Joshua Vigel, an individual (“StringAI,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), governing your use of the StringAI mobile application and related services (the “App”). By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
Key points. The App provides automated, AI-generated practice feedback — not professional, medical, or physical-therapy advice. You use it at your own risk, including the risk of physical strain or injury from playing an instrument. The App is provided “as is,” our liability is limited, and most disputes must go to individual arbitration (see Section 14).

1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may use the App only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. By using the App, you represent that you meet these requirements and that all information you provide is accurate.
2. License to use the App
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to download and use one copy of the App on a device you own or control, for your own non-commercial practice use. You may not: (a) copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App; (b) reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code or models, except where such restriction is prohibited by law; (c) rent, lease, sell, or sublicense the App; (d) use the App to build a competing product; or (e) circumvent usage limits, security, or entitlement checks.
3. Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at joshvigel@gmail.com of any unauthorized use. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Subscriptions, billing & refunds
- Free tier & paid plans. The App may offer a limited free tier and paid subscription plans that unlock additional features. Details and prices are shown in the App at the point of purchase.
- Billing through the app store. All purchases are processed by Apple or Google under their terms. Payment is charged to your app-store account at confirmation.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew for the same period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel your subscription in your app-store account settings.
- Refunds. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, and refunds (if any) are handled by Apple or Google under their policies — not by us.
- Price changes. We may change subscription prices prospectively; changes will not affect an already-paid period.
5. Your content & responsibilities
“Your Content” means anything you record, upload, or enter into the App — including practice recordings, piece titles, and files such as sheet music. You retain ownership of Your Content. You grant us a limited license to process Your Content solely to operate the App and provide the service to you (for example, to analyze a session and store your results), as described in the Privacy Policy.
You represent and warrant that you own or have the necessary rights to Your Content and that it does not infringe any third party’s rights or violate any law. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to record, upload, and use any music, sheet music, or other material in the App. You agree not to upload content that is unlawful, infringing, or that depicts or involves anyone without their consent.
6. Our intellectual property
The App, including its software, models, design, text, and the “StringAI” name and logo, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. Except for the limited license above, we grant you no rights in the App. Feedback or suggestions you send us may be used by us without obligation to you.
7. AI & “not professional advice”
The App’s measurements, scores, coaching, explanations, exercises, and chat responses are generated by automated systems, including third-party AI models. They are informational estimates, not professional instruction, and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for you. The App is not a substitute for a qualified music teacher. Do not rely on the App as your sole source of instruction, and use your own judgment. See our AI disclosure for how AI is used and what data is involved.
8. Assumption of risk & health disclaimer
Playing a musical instrument carries physical risk. Practicing — especially for long periods or with poor technique — can cause muscle strain, repetitive-stress injury, or other harm. StringAI is not a medical, physical-therapy, or healthcare service and does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition.
You use the App and follow any of its suggestions entirely at your own risk. You are responsible for practicing safely, taking breaks, warming up, and stopping if you feel pain or discomfort. Consult a qualified medical professional before beginning or continuing any practice regimen if you have any condition, pain, or concern. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you assume all risks associated with your use of the App and your practice, and you release StringAI from any claim arising from physical injury, strain, or health effects related to your use of the App.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTY THAT THE APP WILL BE ACCURATE, RELIABLE, UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP’S MEASUREMENTS OR AI-GENERATED FEEDBACK ARE CORRECT OR WILL IMPROVE YOUR PLAYING. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL STRINGAI (JOSHUA VIGEL) BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR FOR PERSONAL INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE APP OR THESE TERMS, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE APP OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE APP IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) US $100. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT FULLY APPLY TO YOU. THESE LIMITATIONS ARE A FUNDAMENTAL BASIS OF THE BARGAIN BETWEEN US.
11. Indemnification
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless StringAI (Joshua Vigel) from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the App; (b) Your Content; (c) your violation of these Terms or any law; or (d) your violation of any third party’s rights.
12. Copyright & DMCA
We respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Our full DMCA policy, including how to submit a takedown notice and counter-notice to our designated agent, is set out in the Privacy Policy. Repeat infringers may be terminated.
13. Termination
You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the App. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 5–14) will survive.
14. Governing law, arbitration & class-action waiver
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. This Section requires most disputes to be resolved by binding individual arbitration and waives your right to a jury trial and to bring or participate in a class action.
Governing law. These Terms and any Dispute are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and by the U.S. Federal Arbitration Act as to arbitration.
Informal resolution. Before starting arbitration, you agree to first email joshvigel@gmail.com describing the dispute and to allow 60 days to resolve it informally.
Binding arbitration. Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to the App or these Terms (a “Dispute”) that is not resolved informally will be resolved by final and binding arbitration, administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, before a single arbitrator, seated in the State of Texas. The arbitrator has exclusive authority to resolve any dispute about the interpretation, applicability, or enforceability of this arbitration agreement, except that a court decides whether the class-action waiver is enforceable.
Class-action waiver. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you and StringAI agree that each may bring claims against the other only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person’s claims or preside over any representative or class proceeding.
Exceptions. Either party may (a) bring an individual claim in a small-claims court with jurisdiction, or (b) seek injunctive or equitable relief in court to stop infringement or misuse of intellectual property or data. Nothing here prevents you from reporting concerns to a government agency.
30-day opt-out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing joshvigel@gmail.com with the subject “Arbitration Opt-Out” within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. Opting out does not affect any other part of these Terms.
If any portion of this Section is found unenforceable, the remainder will stay in effect, except that if the class-action waiver is found unenforceable, this entire arbitration Section will be void.
15. App-store terms
You obtained the App through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and their terms also apply. For the Apple App Store, the following applies: these Terms are between you and StringAI, not Apple; Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App; in the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any), and to the maximum extent permitted by law Apple has no other warranty obligation; Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App (including product-liability, legal-compliance, or consumer-protection claims); Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as “terrorist-supporting,” and that you are not on any U.S. Government prohibited-parties list.
16. General terms
- Changes. We may update these Terms; we will update the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, provide in-app notice. Continued use means acceptance.
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App.
- Severability. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a transfer of the App.
- Force majeure. We are not liable for delays or failures beyond our reasonable control.
